POA: 3rd Industry summit on Data Product oriented architectures

Add to calendar:

3rd Industry summit on Data Product oriented architecture

Day 1: 16th of September 2026

Day 2: 17th of September 2026

Introduction

The use of computing and digital infrastructures has undergone various iterations of centralized/ decentralized/ federated architectures over the last few decades. New use cases, technologies and architectural patterns appear to emerge almost constantly in industry as organizations try to get value from their data assets. At the same time, we see industry framework                ( e.g. DAMA DMBOK) emerge as best practices for data management. Also, we see scientific results that identify theories and results on an empirical bases.

A key trend across the board is the coupling of data use in its various forms (in business processes, analytics, and artificial intelligence) to data management and data governance. These three aspects are typically linked to highly cohesive data products. This enables organizations to achieve the necessary decoupling and manage the ripple effects that (disruptive) change may have on the data landscape.

Summit

On 16 and 17 September, DPG, the University of Antwerp, and Antwerp Management School will host the 3rd industry summit on data product oriented architectures (POA). The summit brings together thought leaders, practitioners, and scholars from the field in order to:

  1. Facilitate knowledge sharing between practitioners around developing and implementing product oriented architectures;

2. Make academic knowledge more readily available to industry practitioners;

3. Challenge academia to address the real-world problems organizations are facing with their POA transitions;

4. Foster collaboration between industry and academia.

Request for proposals

We cordially invite you to submit a proposal for the summit. We welcome contributions from academic and industry speakers. Even more, we are open to more lecture-style contributions as well as practical workshops around POA and related themes. Submissions can be sent to Bas Van Gils, Academic Chair (bas.vangils@ams.ac.be).

Relevant topics for this summit are:

    • Data products
    •  Data mesh
    • Federated governance models
    • Decentralized ownership/stewardship of data
    • Domain-driven design
    • Data (product) lifecycle
    • KPIs and value metrics
    • Managing ripple effects in data landscapes
    • Embedding data products in organizational culture and processes
    • Application of FAIR principles
    • Privacy and security concerns

There will be no full (academic) proceedings. A bundle of presentations (slides) will be distributed after the summit.

  The timelines are:

• Proposal submission: May 31

• Notification of acceptance: June 28
